10 reviews for CASABREWS Espresso Machine 20 Bar, Professional Espresso Maker with Milk Frother Steam Wand, Compact Espresso Coffee Machine

  1. Landon the Reviewer

To start, this little guy does make true espresso. It’s dang good once tuned in correctly. As an entry machine this does everything you need it to with the notable upgrade to a unpressurized basket (not included.) Steam wand works great. My minor complaints:1. The pressurized basket and aluminum portafilter aren’t the best thing in the world. It creates this sort of faux crema from the high velocity exit through the single hole. It can really mess with latte art presentation, but has no real effect on taste or quality. They DO make it very easy to get medium quality extraction with inconsistent grinding, and that is a great and useful thing for a lot of us to have. If you do have a better grinder and spare cash though, get a replacement portafilter with an unpressurized basket. I recommend bottomless for the style points and troubleshooting.2. Steaming cool down time. As a safety precaution, there is a cool down timer between use of the steam wand (which works beautifully by the way) and pulling another shot. This is fine really, but it does significantly slow down how quickly I can serve multiple lattes for guests. You just kinda have to wait around and serve them one at a time, even with the recommendation to purge the steam wand for quicker cooling right there in the user manual.3. The cup warmer is a show piece that doesn’t add much. I’ve tried letting this thing heat up as much as possible, but it just won’t get there. Even pouring multiple shots to warm the whole machine doesn’t make it heat up enough to warm a cup. But it looks nice and is a good enough spot for you to keep cups, so there you go. I just preheat cups with the warm water from the steam wand instead.4. No units on the pressure gage. Sorry y’all, but as cool as it is to watch this thing move around during the shot, without actual units of pressure it’s just a toy. The “espresso range” means nothing. I’m not even sure what pressure range that is supposed to represent here. You’ll just have to infer good backpressure from your yields and shot times. No impact on taste or anything, it’s just something that would make a great troubleshooting tool if only it was done right.

  2. Some Chick

It helped that I took the time to watch a couple review videos before I tried to make a cappuccino. It’s not difficult, but take a couple minutes to get acquainted with the machine. The water receptacle, how the handle with the grounds works and fits on. Maybe try putting it off and on before loading it.The directions had me run water through the frother first. Then I put coffee in and got the handle positioned properly. Made espresso. I have a metal cup for foaming milk. The machine can express both water and air from the milk frother. There’s a button on top you hit and a dial on the side you turn. Activate both to froth milk and one for air, the other for water.By the second cup, I had it and it’s simple. I’ve had no trouble cleaning the grounds cup out. I empty it as soon as I make a cup, and rinse it immediately. The metal cup that fits the handle fits snuggly inside and I can knock the grounds out without the metal cup falling into the trash.Excellent purchase. It’s a nice smaller size and fits neatly on the counter. I’m glad I bought it and am using it daily. Turns out I like my own cappuccinos best.

  3. Frankie

By now, I’m well-acquainted with machines in this price range, having owned several different brands over the years. This review doesn’t account for longevity and if it doesn’t last the requisite 12 months I’ll adjust it to one star, but for now here it is as compared to several other brands in its price range. What’s good:Its best feature is the nice long, one piece frothing wand. Simple to clean, works great, and easy to froth milk in whatever glass you wish, which negates the need for separate vessels and repouring. I also like that it ramps up gradually, which allows to open the valve, expel the water, and get the milk underneath all in a single smooth motion. Also, this wand is metered near perfectly. It both heats the milk and produces nice tight foam that yields piping hot cappuccino. Definitely the best wand/frothing of any machine I’ve owned. What sucks:I’ve given up hope that this machine will ever produce a nice dry puck. Normally I’d judge a machine by the espresso it brews and let an issue like this slide, but in this case the grounds are so saturated that I have to deal with anything from goopy black tar to completely wet mess that spills everywhere when the filter is removed. It’s so bad that I have to keep a container of rinse water next to the machine and dip the Portafilter in it to remove the gloppy mess so it won’t clog up my septic tank. The pressure gauge on this machine is utterly useless. Yeah, the needle moves around and stuff, but it doesn’t read anything useful, and doesn’t read at all when steaming. Bummer because that was a selling point for me. Consider the pressure gauge a decoration. There ya go. It gets the job done, and it’s definitely ahead of many other machines thanks to its upgraded frothing wand, but at the end of the day it’s just another fish swimming in a sea of mediocrity. Hopefully, my final machine in this price range. If you’re considering this as a replacement for a similar unit, do yourself a favor and just buy the damned Gaggia Classic Pro now. You’ll save money in the end.

  4. Posh Hippie

This replaced a Mr Coffee that is no longer made. It’s a better unit power wise than the Mr Coffee was. Much better power than most cheap machines provide. There are a few tricks to using it though. If it won’t pump sometimes you need to bleed off excess pressure using the steamer function. Best thing is turn it on wait 30 seconds then push pump button. Works dependable once you know its tricks!

  5. Amazon Customer

Frother spits out water so you have to have practice run first to get water out. 1 cup vs 2 cups doesn’t seem to be much difference in volume. Have to let unit heat up for a while before using. But once everything is running it work’s pretty well.

A great budget espresso machine I have this espresso machine about 2 weeks, would say it beyond my expectation!first, the design is slim and modern. The stainless steel construction not only adds a touch of elegance to my kitchen but also ensures durability. the pressure gauge adds point too.second, easy to use and make a good espresso. the coffee knob is not too tight and hold the position just perfectly. The tastes of espresso is above average, I didn’t expect it could tastes like those made with a thousand dollars machine, but it dose!last, the product service is superb! I received warm message from seller the next day when I have the machine delivered. the message provided all the e-version of introductions and trouble-shotings. I asked questions and got responded always in hours., this give me confidenc for the long lasting use.all in short, I like this beautiful machine and would recommend it to every espresso lovers.
