  • Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. 2)It is important to note that the amount of espresso extracted will vary depending on the grind size and amount and reprogramming may be needed when the size and amount are adjusted
  • On the Fly Programming: Making changes to your favorite drinks has never been easier. Any time you brew a drink you have the opportunity to change settings to your liking and then save them for next time.
  • Full Color Display: Your home café has never looked better! Crisp icon based navigation makes brewing fun and easy. A mix of plain text, color, and icons make additional programming a breeze so you can focus on your coffee.
  • One-Touch Milk Beverages: The Magenta Prestige can produce four distinct milk specialties at the touch of a button. Each drink is uniquely prepared, with coffee and milk dispensing varying per drink, and flat whites prepared with two consecutive shots of espresso.
  • One Size Fits All: The updated drip tray and cup riser are an innovative and simple solution to prevent splashing and also to provide sufficient clearance to tall cups. At max height, the Magenta can fit large/travel mugs up to 6” tall.
  • Fully Customizable Drink Menu: Following the example set by the Cadorna series, the Magenta allows you to fully customize each drink on the menu, setting your desired temperature, brew strength (or pre-ground coffee), and volume for all coffee drinks, as well as your desired quantity of milk when applicable.

Few hundred drinks in now and so far so good. Very convenient. Pre-heating your cup tends to fix the “doesn’t get hot enough” issue on some drinks.

I’ve owned this machine for just around 3 months and it is great for hassle-free espresso and milk drinks. There are enough settings to play with (amount of grounds, volume of shot, amount and temperature of milk, etc) for customizing the drinks to your preference. Bear in mind that this is a super-auto, so there will be some compromises when it comes to the coffee quality. If you want precise control and barista-level coffee you want to look at semi-auto machines. Overall it’s a great machine but there are some serious cons that potential buyers may want to consider before making a decision.Pluses:I love the true double espresso shot feature, grinding and pulling 2 shots instead of using the same grinds twice to water down the espresso. I like the milk carafe feature, I’m not interested in a DIY milk frother/steamer especially when I’m caffeine deprived and bleary-eyed in the morning. I like that the drinks are clearly displayed and the menu is easy to navigate. It is compact enough to fit in a corner of my counter and under my cabinets without taking up too much space.Caveats:1) Milk carafe is not easy to clean. It has 7 parts (see pic) some of them require a bit of fiddling to dissemble and clean properly. It will get cruddy even if you quick clean it after every drink. I would suggest keeping the temperature at medium and a full cleaning every 2-3 weeks.2) No profile feature. Unless you are the only one using the machine it can get very frustrating in a multi-person household to set up preferences only to have them rewritten by the next person using the machine. Considering that similarly priced Lattego 4300 has this feature (and the fact that Philips owns Gaggia, Saeco, and Philips brands) it is a definite letdown.3) The small cup shelf cannot be used in conjunction with the milk carafe and it is extremely annoying to constantly adjust the cup for small-volume drinks. It is such an easy fix that I cannot believe Gaggia did not include a separate shelf.4) There are a few other minor niggles that can’t be classified as cons but are worth noting for anyone considering this machine. a) The grinder has only 5 settings, I can’t say if it affects the quality of the espresso but if you prefer finer control you may want to look elsewhere. b) It does not come with a filter which is mildly infuriating considering it costs upwards of $800. c) The water tank is super fiddly, especially the handle. If you plan on regularly removing it to refill, there is a good chance it will break.

I have own the Gaggia Magenta Prestige Super-Automatic Espresso Machine for several months at the point of writing this review. I absolutely love the coffee it makes and the simplicity of the machine but because of the cost you would expect that the little things would have been figured out. That is why i can only give this a 3 star rating. If the machine was either half the cost or these issues were addressed I would gladly give it 5 stars. Below are my issues… they may seem little and they are but again when you pay top dollar you expect top dollar design.1. Bean hopper. The bean hopper has essentially two locations with a bottle neck linking the two. the problem is that the beans do not migrate on their own to the location that the grinder is. so you will have to push the beans from one spot to the other or just not use the other location in which case half of your hopper is wasted.2. ground coffee location. there is a location for ground coffee but beware that if you put even the slightest amount too much then the machine will dump all the grounds internally and give you only hot water. i almost sent the machine back because i thought it was broke until we figured out that this was the issue. it doesnt take much to overfill the preground section and it does not have a hopper so you can only do one shot at a time.3. spoiled milk. the frother is awesome and the cleanup is great… however when you run the post froth clean up a small amount of super hot water goes back into your milk… this will quickly cause your milk to spoil even if you are faithful in keeping it the fridge. i can only use about half of the container because any more and the amount of hot water going back in will just spoil the milk.4. frother… love it and hate it. great cups of coffee because of it but the nozzle placement and the espresso nozzle placement cause issues unless you have a prefectly square cup. most of the time its fine but sometimes the froth doesnt go as far and will make a huge mess.5. hot water dispenser… for whatever reason that we can’t figure out, sometimes the nozzle just randomly pops out. no clue whyso i love the coffee and the simplicity of the machine. i will keep using it (because we already bought it) but i WOULD NOT recommend this at its current price. unless these issues were sorted out. it makes great coffee but its the little things that will cause you to feel like you overpaid.

I’m a Gaggia fan as this is my second one. I originally bought an Accademia model but it was falling apart after 7 years. I wanted to buy a new one but the new version was so expensive. I compromised and purchased this model. I like the compactness and location of the hoppers but not a big fan of the waste water tray. You need to be close to the sink because it requires a little balancing to avoid spilling. The milk carafe is a bit flimsy too as is the housing plastic but that’s why it’s less expensive. I really like the display and a larger variety of coffee type drinks. A cover for the coffee beans would’ve been nice. The quality of the drinks are very good. I saved some money and am happy.

Amazing coffee machineNot only does it easily make a great selection of coffees but I regularly use the milk frother option for hot chocolate and it’s amazing. Easy to use, keep clean and an overall great purchase
