This is a review of the Laekerrt 20 Bar Espresso Maker. Overall it is a good machine for the casual coffee drinker such as myself. It lacks some of the niceties of higher-end machines, but I don’t miss those too often.Good things:Price is very good. Construction quality of the device is great. It doesn’t feel “plasticky” and cheap.Heats up quickly for both espresso and steam function. In under a minute I can make two shots of espresso, and in under two minutes can froth enough milk to make lattes or cappucinos. It’s a timed function which may or may not be desirable for others, but works great for me. Press the button (either one or two cups) and it starts up and stops automatically. The steam frother also works quickly though was a bit confusing to get right at first. This is mostly my own fault but the instructions weren’t exactly clear. Not so great things:It can do two cups at a time, but there’s a small delay as the machine recharges steam. This is about 30s to a minute. So once you pull the shots, it takes a minute before it’s ready to froth the milk.No water level warning. The reservoir is pretty small and in the back of the unit so not always obvious if you’re running low on water.Instructions are printed on the machine itself, but not actually correct. For example, on the steam function the knob has to be turned to the circle until the steam is recharged. If it’s on the steam function, it will just shoot out squirts of hot water until the pressure is enough to force steam out. The instructions don’t mention this. There are also instructions on the front of the unit that is pretty well obscured by the filter unit. These instructions talk about “First Use” or if the machine hasn’t been used in a long time, but not sure what the difference is between these use cases and normal use.Removing the filter canisters is cumbersome. This may apply if you need to switch different grinds that require different filters. For the most part, I’m using only the 2oz canister. In summary, I am satisfied with the machine. Good price and works for my needs, but it does lack higher-end and convenience features that I’ve seen before.

Been in the market for a simple, low bulk espresso machine and this one fills the bill! Make a great cup (and I’m tough to please with coffee) quick, quiet, and good design.

Its my first day with this machine it is beautiful and does a great job. Ive never had an espresso machine before and this one is easy to use. The only draw back i have found is it is light weight so you have to hold the machine down slightly when turning the arm or it will tip over.

*******This is being edited 8 months after purchase. This machine did not last a year. I loaded the grounds into the cup per the instructions. Then hit the brew button. With the steamer setting in the “off” position, water started coming out of the steam spout and the coffee spout at the same time. Then, when I tried to steam the whole milk, the steam came out of the spout and the pod location at the same time. The “overheat” beeps started at 140F. I descaled the machine twice. This machine will have to be replaced. The pump is toast. I really wish Briel were available in the United States. In the meantime, I will look for another brand.*********** I bought a Briel way back. All Breil’s are made in Portugal. For 5 years, almost every day, it worked perfectly. I could adjust the amount of steam and it delivered the foam every time. I visit Europe every other year. Cappuccinos are not supposed to have 5 inches of foam on top like the US folks like. I do not like a lot of foam. After 3,000 cappuccinos (give or take), the plastic piece in the tank broke and the search was on for another good machine.I went out of my way to find a machine that was made in Europe, not China. I went on websites, looked at the fine print, really looked at the location of manufacture. Laekertt was a good price, under $200. The website gives a European location for manufacture. So, I went for it.When I received the box, the first thing I see is “Made in China” on the box and on the bottom of the machine. This really bummed me out. I could have gotten a China machine for a lot less. I bought the machine in November 2021. After a month or so, steamer quit any amount of foam. What little it does give only lasts about a few minutes. Remember, I do not like a lot of foam. So, this machine would most likely be returned by an angry American who likes the Starbucks type. The quality control in China is neglible at best, which is why I tried to stay away from those machines. European workers just know how to make a coffee machine. My cappuccinos are now like cafe lattes, without foam at all after about two minutes. I’m very disappointed because Laekertt lead me to believe that I was buying a European-made machine. This is an edit and an upgrade to the rating. After getting poor results from trying to foam up Alexander Farms whole milk, which has a “cream” head when shipped, I decided to try foaming up Horizon Whole Milk for my wife’s cappuccino. The result was much different. The foam was more than enough to satisfy any cappuccino fan. The machine worked as advertised when using Horizon milk. Therefore, I am giving only 4 stars for two reasons. First, Laekertt needs to be more up front about where their products are made. For example, Gaggia is very obvious about their products, with statements of “Proudly Made in Italy” all over their site and labels. Second, why does this machine’s steamer vary from milk to milk? Alexander is top tier and about $12 for a 28oz. bottle. That milk should steam up like a $12 cappuccino at Ruth Chris Steakhouse. The steamer should not be “picky” about what kind of whole milk goes under the wand. Horizon Milk works fine. So, I’ll just use that.

I love everything about this espresso coffee machine it’s easy to use and the coffee is extra espresso not watered down coffee. I recommend it to all espresso coffee lovers.

  8. TheDocDrea

I’ve been looking at machines for a few months. The reviews are all over the place always. I settled on this because it’s stainless steel and not plastic, 20 bar, easy to use. I’m not picky I just want good shots pulled and this does the job. Very happy with the purchase and would recommend to anyone.
